Okay, here ya go, the (:dmarkup:) directive. It only works in the Test group on pmwiki.org at the moment.

The format is (:dmarkup:) followed by the code and results both in [=...=] blocks. Thus:

(:dmarkup:) * Bla bla (:new-markup oh, cool - this is in italics!:) * Bla bla ''oh, cool - this is in italics!''
