*sigh* If I had it to do over again, I'd probably remove them
entirely, and leave it to the skin designer to wrap the
text in <div id='wikitext'>. I know they're there for
compatibility, and also to give $HTMLStylesFmt something
to hang onto if needed to affect styles within the main page
markup. But in retrospect I might've preferred to leave it out,
but don't want to do that at this point.

Pretty good -- give me a day to think it over and consider other
angles and enhancements, and I'll see about releasing a variable-based
version into beta29.
