I've not followed the entire discussion about the redesign, but some of 
my thoughts:

Someone proposed  an "Exit"-Button. I think, exit is more like "Quit 
without saving" . But this could very easily handeld on the XLPage.

It would also be great, if the different part of the Edit form 
(textfield, buttons, etc.) could be controlled by css.
