I'll give your first solution a try when I get a chance.  It looks
like it might be exactly what I need.  I have a specialized situation
where depending on the referring page, the second page does some
special customized shenanigans.  Great suggestion!

By the way, I presume you could actually pass the code on to a third
page by doing something like  [[Group3.Page3?refer={$ReferPage}]] in
page 2.  Right? Assuming your local configs are appropriately setup,
of course. I love this PmWiki thing!
