I assume you weren't thinking of the PageVariable {$Group}

Provide a definition (and suggest on the PmWikiVariables trail) and I'll 
be happy to add it.

If you add it yourself, just follow the format of other entries: its 
just a definition list, but write the variable in the term without any 
extra markup.  Put it on one of the pages on the trail.
