One way to do this is to use cookies.  I have put an
example of this on the HttpVariables recipe test site:

http://www.theficks.name/test/HttpVariables/pmwiki.php?n=Test.Vars

Note the footer at the bottom of the page, it will
change as you visit other pages in the group, say
Test.GroupList


There are limitations to this:

1) It is only setup to work for the current group, but
you can install the All Group Header recipe to make it
work for every group.

2) It uses cookies so it inherits any cookie
limitations.  If you have multiple browser views
(windows or tabs) of the same site, they will
"confuse" each other.
