Obtaining CVS for Windows
CVS is usually already installed on *nix systems, but it doesn't come with windows. You can download a precompiled binary (version 1.11.20) from here.
The installation is very easy, just extract the executable (cvs.exe
) to somewhere in your path (i.e. in some directory that is referenced by the environment variable PATH
). Just type
path
from a DOS prompt to see your current path.
Another solution for the neophyte CVS user is to download TortoiseCVS from http://www.tortoisecvs.org/. While CVS is easy, especially for those who know how to use command line programs, TortoiseCVS brings CVS to Windows in a fully functional manner using Open Source Software. NeI
