Installing latex for use with LinuxTex
I give some hints here that worked for me for installing a latex distro from scratch on a shared server.
I used the tetex distribution by Thomas Esser, which can be found here [(approve links)
edit
diff]. As the files are
quite large (you will need probably more than 400MB to compile the package unless you disable many options) I recommend
unpacking the tetex-texmf-3.0po.tar.gz
only after the compilation of the sources in tetex-src-3.0.tar.gz
and cleaning up (,but
before running texconfig
).
I disabled the xdvi
related stuff, as some library was missing for compiling this and it is not needed anyway. See ./configure
on how to do this.
